BrickYard Plantation Community History
Brickyard Plantation neighborhood was built on the site of a brick plantation. Very little remains of the working plantation; however, residents can still view a historic brick kiln and fish in the eight acre lake from which clay was dug. At low tide, you can see (but not pick up) scattered bricks along the banks of Horlbeck Creek. The newly formed bricks were loaded on barges and shipped to Charleston via Horlbeck Creek and the Wando River.

Located adjacent to Boone Hall Plantation, BrickYard is also bordered by the marshes and waters of Horlbeck Creek. Low tide is approximately 9 feet at the neighborhood boat launch & dock. At high tide, the depth is approximately 13 feet.

This beautiful 850-home community is recognized as one of the most award-winning in Charleston history, with five "Community of the Year" awards from the Charleston Trident Homebuilders Association.

BrickYard is composed of 10 distinctively crafted neighborhoods, each with its own personality. The clubhouse and amenity center are the social & recreational hub of the BrickYard community. Two pools, clubhouse with full kitchen, meeting room & exercise room, new 2009 tot playground and 5 wonderful lighted tennis courts are available to the residents. Don't miss the basketball court, game field, 8 acre fishing lake, boat dock, boat launch plus ponds, gazebo and miles of walk-bike paths. Enjoy outdoor activities in BrickYard all 4 seasons.
